Meanwhile, the number of people returning to normal health hits 224 or 84% of the total infections, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to statistics published by the ministry, as of April 23, Vietnam has carried out 189,253 tests and detected just 268 cases, equaling nearly 706 tests for each detected case.
According to Our World in Data, Vietnam tops countries worldwide for the number of Covid-19 tests per confirmed case with 652.4 as of April 21, followed by Taiwan with 134.7 and New Zealand 85.6, Austria ranks fourth with 68.1 and South Korea 54.
A further complication with using testing coverage as an indicator of reliability, is that the number of tests needed to have an accurate picture of the spread of the virus varies over the course of an outbreak, according to Our World in Data, a project of the Global Change Data Lab, a registered charity in England and Wales.
This gives us an indication of the scale of testing that accounts for the different stages each country may be in its outbreak, it said.
As of April 23, as many as 68,081 people in Vietnam are under quarantine.
Vietnam is preparing to receive and place in quarantine thousands of people returning to the country from abroad in the coming weeks, many of them are workers from China, Nikkei reported.
