Traditional cultural activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year and a special organic produce market will be held at the Spring Festival in Hanoi from February 2 to 8.
At the festival, Vietnam Exhibition Centre of Culture and Art will present food and art to prepare for Tet celebration, such as Banh Chung, tea, lanterns, calligraphy, flowers, and Mam Ngu Qua (five fruits).
Artisans from traditional craft villages around the nation will also come to display their skills. “We will introduce paper flowers from Thanh Tien village (Hue), silverwork from Chau Khe village (Hai Duong), bamboo dragonflies from Thach That district (Hanoi), and conical hats from Chuong village, Thanh Oai district (Hanoi),” Duong Van Quynh, Director of Vietnam Exhibition Centre of Culture and Art said.
In addition, an exhibition of 100 photos will introduce Vietnam’s cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and traditional celebrations. An area will also depict how Vietnamese people celebrated Lunar New Year in the past. The festival will be held from 9am to 9pm at Vietnam Exhibition, Culture and Art Centre, 2 Hoa Lu Street, Hanoi.
The Year of the Dog is coming, an animal in the Asian zodiac that is compatible with Tiger and the Horse, so the exhibition will recall historical events and famous people that were born in past years of the Dog.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a New Year cuisine area with specialties cooked in leaf-roofed small huts. The even will also feature numerous artists and performances from Tuoi Tre (Youth) Theatre, Vietnam Music, Dance and Songs Theatre, Vietnam Circus Federation, Vietnam Cheo (Traditional Operetta) Theatre, and Vietnam Central Puppetry Theatre.
