Vietnam has launched the travel application VietnamGo in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province on January 16, during the 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), in a bid to facilitate search of information on attractions in the country.
The application was developed by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).
Speaking at the event, General Director of VNPT Ngo Dien Hy said that the application features traveling information, weather conditions, major destinations, and local specialties, displayed in both Vietnamese and English. It also offers 360-degree photos, as well as 3D and virtual reality viewing.
The app will help improve the service of businesses in the tourism supply chain, as well as increase their interaction. “VNPT has deployed this application in 27 provinces and cities across Vietnam,” said Hy.
During the next stage, VNPT pledged to continue partnering with VNAT, cities, and provinces to promote Vietnam’s tourism by updating the app features this year, including adding more destinations, Chinese and Russian language options, information on restaurants, shopping centers and traffic, digital mapping, audio guides, and 360-degree videos.
By 2020, the application will be added new functions, adopt big data, and utilize artificial intelligence to increase users’ experience. Hy suggested localities provide tourism information through the app to effectively introduce their locations and sites of interest to tourists.
Under the theme “ASEAN-The Power of One”, the ATF will provide Vietnam a chance to improve its role and stature in regional tourism and introduce the country’s natural beauty and people to international friends.
This year’s forum takes place between January 16 and 18. The closing ceremony will combine with the wrapping up of National Tourism Year 2018 - Ha Long - Quang Ninh on January 18, 2019.
