Hanoi: 1,576 precious ordinations are recognized as city’s treasures

These religious ordinations found in Hanoi are recognized as precious and rare treasures that need to be preserved.

A ceremony in recognition of 1,576 precious and rare ordinations was held by Hanoi Department of Home Affairs on January 26.

These 1,576 documents were collected at 163 worshiping establishments and lineages in nine districts, communes and towns of Ha Noi including Ba Dinh, Thanh Xuan, Chuong My, Thach That, Bac Tu Liem, Ha Dong, Quoc Oai, Ba Vi and Son Tay.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lieu, Deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs, the recognition of these ordinations as 'precious and rare archives' is intended to facilitate the management and protection of these heritage by the city. Preservation awareness of worshiping establishments and lineages who possess the ordinations will be enhanced, according to Lieu.

Previously, in 2018 and 2019, the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs recognized a total of 2,365 ordinations from 195 worshiping establishments as ‘precious and rare archives’ of the city in four phases. (In the 1st phase, 211 ordinations were recognized, 766 ordinations in the second phase, 554 in the third phase, and 834 in the fourth).
