Hanoi Department of Tourism held a press conference on October 6 to reveal the Hanoi Ao dai Festival 2016 with the aims to honour the capital’s cultural values and promote tourism products based on fashion.
The Hanoi Ao dai Festival 2016, themed “The Quintessence of Vietnam’s Ao Dai”, will take place from October 14 - 16 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
The festival will attract the participation of many fashion designers and artists as well as Hanoi lovers.
The cultural event aims to preserve and promote Vietnam’s traditional values as well as the beauty and grace of the Ao dai (traditional Vietnamese costume for women), that has become a symbol of feminine beauty in Vietnam.
The highlight of this year's festival will be decorations of lights made of conical hats, set up both inside and outside the festival venue, creating a lively and intimate atmosphere for the visitors.
The festival will include exhibitions, art and cultural activities featuring the beauty of the Ao dai. Workshops on preserving the Ao dai’s traditional values will also be organised at the festival.
In addition, collection of past and present Ao dai will be displayed at an exhibition entitled “Hanoi’s Ao dai Festival”.
This year’s event will highlight the grace of Hanoi’s Ao dai which reflects Thang Long’s traditional features, said designer Minh Hanh.
