After implementing two projects to preserve the city’s intangible and intangible cultural heritages, Hanoi has identified 5,922 tangible cultural heritages (monuments) and 1,793 intangible cultural heritages, Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Information To Van Dong stated said at a ceremony to mark the Vietnam cultural heritage Day on November 22 at Hanoi Museum.
Hanoi carried out a number of projects to preserve the city’s intangible cultural heritages, including a project implemented from 2014-2015 to review the city’s intangible cultural heritages and apply effective conservation methods in 30 districts and towns.
The experts and local culture officials identified 1,793 intangible cultural heritages, among which as many as 11 heritages require urgent protection.
The heritages included Da Chat Slang (in Dai Xuyen Commune, Phu Xuyen District), antique Tuong singing in Coc Thuong Hamlet (Hoang Dieu Commune, Chuong My District), Trong Quan singing in Phuc Lam Hamlet (Phuc Tien Commnue, Phu Xuyen District), Vi singing in Ngoc Than Hamlet (Ngoc My Commune, Quoc Oai District), Do singing (Liep Tuyet Commune, Quoc Oai District) Ca Tru singing in Phuong Cach Commune (Quoc Oai District), Ca Tru singing in Ngai Cau Hamlet (An Khanh Commune, Hoai Duc District) and Ca Tru singing in Lo Khe Hamlet (Lien Ha Commune, Dong Anh District).
The majority of the protection-prioritised heritages are in the groups of traditional festivals, handicrafts or art forms.
The municipal cultural department picked six heritages to develop profiles for recognition as national intangible cultural heritage, namely embroidering in Thuong Tin; Ai Lao dancing and singing in Long Bien District; and the Chem Temple Festival in Bac Tu Liem District.
The department published an Atlas and a book featuring the city’s intangible cultural heritages after the project.
According to Heritage Management Desk of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the department will announce a list of Hanoi's intangible culture heritages and instruct districts and towns to plan for preservation and development.
Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Information To Van Dong said that the city's management, protection and promotion of cultural heritage values has achieved encouraging results.
He committed to continue to cooperate actively with the authorities and scientists to promote protection of cultural heritages more effectively in the future.
