Hanoi strengthens cooperation with Sri Lankan businesses

On April 13, Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka in Vietnam - Ms. Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake.

At the meeting, City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said that Sri Lanka and Vietnam have many similarities in culture and traditions. In recent years, the process of cooperation in trade, tourism and investment between the two countries have achieved some progress, but have not commensurated with its potential yet.

Accordingly, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung expects that the two sides will continue to strengthen high-level exchange of visits, as well as to promote cooperation between enterprises, particularly in the field of tourism.

Expressing gratitute to the attention and expectations of the City Chairman on potential cooperation between the two countries, Ambassador Dissanayake Urugodawatte Hasanthi Saranya confirmed that Sri Lanka and Vietnam have maintained a good traditional relationship for decades. The Ambassador emphasized that during her tenure, she will endeavor to promote the image of the two countries, thereby strengthening cooperation which is commensurate with bilateral potential. By the way, she also expressed the wish that the MPC will support and facilitate learning activities, exchanges between people of the two countries, creating a springboard of economic development, trade and other fields.

Agreed with the proposal of the Ambassador, City Chairman confirmed that Hanoi Capital always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for foreign businesses in general, Sri Lankan businesses in particular to search and develop investment opportunities in the Capital.
