The Steering Committee for building the project on urban administration on May 3 organized a conference on theoretical foundation and international experiences on organization and operation of urban administration model.
The event was chaired by Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
According to Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Organization Vu Duc Bao, Hanoi is a political, administrative, economic and cultural centre of the country. Due to crowded population as well as diversified socio-economic activities, the capital has been facing many burning issues, including security, social order and safety, traffic, power, water, housing, construction and environment, etc.
Over the past time, Hanoi has increased more efforts and take drastic measures in carrying out the Resolution 11-NQ/TW dated January 6, 2012 of the Politburo and gained many outstanding achievements.
Particularly, the total investment of socialization for the 2011-2016 period was over two times higher than that in 2006-2010 period; dozens of thousands of new enterprises were established; the total revenue of state budget for the 2011-2016 period reached VND 940 trillion; many key works and economic projects were completed.
Additionally, the capital city has made greater gains in fields of planning, land management, urban management and order, traffic safety, urban discipline, etc.
Besides, Hanoi has recognized a number of shortcomings and weaknesses in managing the urban administration.
Head of the Commission for Organization Vu Duc Bao also emphasized that the conference considered as an activity in the framework of making a pilot project on building urban administration in Hanoi aims to collect opinions of scientists, managers and experts to clarify theoretical and practical foundation of urban administration organization and offer solutions to build urban administration models of districts, towns, wards in the city.
At the conference, scientists, managers and experts gave their opinions and discussed organizational models and operational mechanisms of urban administration.
Making conclusion at the conference, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang highly appreciated 13 recommendations which focus on clarifying theoretical and practical issues to perfect two topics on building urban administration models in the city.
She considered participant’s opinions as important foundation for the Steering Committee to offer solutions to renew urban administration models, contributing to building and completing the pilot project on urban administration in Hanoi.
On behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and the Steering Committee for building a project on urban administration, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang expressed her thanks to scientists, managers, experts and delegates and affirmed that the city will strictly receive all comments to perfect contents of topics and the project.
Hanoi expects to receive more contributions to building and completing the project in the coming time, she added.
