On May, 7, Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung met the Swedish sustainable city delegation on occasion of their two-day trip to Vietnam.
Earlier on the same day, the Swedish business delegation including representatives from ABB, Ericsson, Volvo Buses, Axis Communication, Volvo Cars and Roxtec had discussion with several public and private stakeholder in the public transport and urban development within the conference “Fostering efficient operation and management of public transport: Sharing successful experience of Sweden in emerging countries”.
Then, the Swedish firms attended the meeting with Hanoi Mayor, which they found as a chance to share about their experience and plans to shake hands with the city in the area of public transport, heading to building smart city and sustainable development.
On behalf of the delegation, Ambassador Pereric Hogberg highlighted the growing expectation of Swedish firms to broaden their future operation in Hanoi. Hence, he hopes that Hanoi authority would create favorable conditions for the ties between Sweden and Hanoi city, basing positive outcome of the delegation’s trip today.
For his part, Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung agreed with proposals from Swedish Ambassador, saying that Swedish technologies are in conformity with Hanoi demand, especially in the building smart city. Specifically, the city is heading to establish data center, digitalize the land database and optimize the usage of green energy…
In term of sustainable transportation, Hanoi considers to import electricity vehicles, improve the public bus system and initially made some adjustment of mechanism to welcome high-quality public vehicles from European, including Sweden.
The Mayor praises the Swedish technology and experience in the field, pressing that the city would provide any information on Hanoi plan to building smart city, basing on which, the Swedish firms would find suitable chance to cooperate. On the delegation's trip, he believes it has generated positive outcomes, which could be taken to nurture further cooperation between Hanoi and Sweden.
