PM points out new growth dynamics for Hanoi

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked Hanoi to capitalize on potential areas and new districts, and speed up administrative reforms to retain its lead as an economic engine in Vietnam.

At the conference “Hanoi 2018 - Investment and Development Cooperation” held on June 17 at the National Convention Center, PM Phuc appreciated the scale of the conference with the participation of 1,500 delegates, representing government agencies and many foreign and domestic corporations.

He also recognized that projects worth more than $17 billion licensed during the event demonstrated Hanoi’s great effort to attract investment.

The PM said that Hanoi's economy has been developed in a comprehensive way, with relatively high growth. Hanoi is gradually asserting itself as a worth-experiencing city, a new emerging tourism hub in the Southeast Asian region.
However, besides the achievements, PM Phuc said that Hanoi is facing many difficulties and challenges, especially the investment climate that needs to be further improved in the coming time. 
In order to realize the vision of building a creative, civilized and modern city, without losing the special cultural value of the milleniums-old capital, an array of duties must be completed, said the PM.
Hanoi needs to seek new growth dynamics with breakthrough and sustainable policies in the long term. In particular, Hanoi should launch vision to its potential areas, new districts.

Therefore, Hanoi needs to plan and connect the Lang - Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park with its universities and the business community, and key economic areas in the northern region.
Hanoi has great potential in terms of technology and is heading for a digital economy, knowledge economy in a positive way. It is on the way to build new growth dynamics. Hanoi should take the lead in the fourth industrial revolution, the digital economy in Vietnam, the government chief noted.
It is necessary to accelerate the implementation of smart city project by building a creative and transparent environment, modernizing Hanoi’s administrative apparatus to create a breakthrough in socio-economic development.
Hanoi should promote its role as the cradle of the country in training talents in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, physics and informatics and so on, which in turn will contribute to the city’s development.
The PM urged Hanoi to take the lead in institutional reform and business environment improvement, especially focusing on dealing with its weaknesses. It is necessary to listen to businesses and actively remove difficulties.
At the conference, representatives of associations and businesses all appreciated Hanoi's efforts in improving the investment climate and expressed their intention to invest in Hanoi.
