Hanoi wishes to receive Israel support in the field so that it can soon fulfill its goal of becoming a farm production and consumption hub in the region as well as a leading farm produce exporter.
Hanoi wishes to enhance cooperation Israeli firms in hi-tech farming, said Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan.
Toan made the statement at Vietnam-Israel Business Conference in the field of high technology agriculture in Hanoi, which was co-held by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam on November 7.
The event was part of activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (1993 - 2018).
The conference is a drive to further Hanoi’s hi-tech application in agriculture. It is also an opportunity for enterprises in the agricultural field to connect and seize the demand for hi-tech farm produce, Toan said.
The vice chairman noted that Vietnam and Israel established diplomatic relations on July 12, 1993, and in December the same year, Israel opened the embassy in Hanoi, kicking off many activities of cooperative relations, jointly promoting trade and investment, training and exchange of scientific and technological experiences between the two countries in general, between Israel’s capital and Hanoi in particular.
Israel is a country that possesses a modern and creative agriculture sector that has made significant achievements, despite of the country’s harsh natural conditions such as lack of fresh water and high desertification.
Therefore, Hanoi wishes to receive Israel support in the field so that it can soon fulfill its goal of becoming a farm production and consumption hub in the region as well as a leading farm produce exporter, he added.
The capital city’s authorities have planned to develop a local hi-tech agriculture industry by selecting appropriate technologies to ensure product safety and quality. Besides, Hanoi will develop its supply chains, markets and commercial centers to become one of the leading distributor and exporter in both domestic and international markets, Toan said.
He stressed that Hanoi is looking forward to Israeli companies, who are leading in science and technology application to agricultural production, to jointly study, support and cooperate with the city in the field of hi-tech farming.
This is the premise for Hanoi to soon complete its goal of becoming the center for producing and consuming agricultural products in the region, one of the leading exporters of agricultural products to foreign markets, Toan added.
