The city of Hanoi has achieved socio-economic development targets set for 2018, said Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai on November 28 at a meeting held to discuss the city's 2018 socio-economic performance, key targets and tasks in 2019.

He said Hanoi has led the nation in foreign direct investment attraction, and safeguarded its national defense-security, and social safety and order.
The city’s management in information technology, posts and telecommunication, press and publishing has been strengthened while administrative reform and legal enforcement have improved, Hai added.
Hai urged the municipal Party Committee, authorities, agencies, socio-economic organizations to continue improving the business climate with a focus on business licensing, start-up ecosystem, innovation promotion and innovation-based industrial development and deeper integration to the global value chain.
Focusing on the task of socio-economic development and national defense and security in 2019, the secretary of the municipal Party Committee said that in 2019 Hanoi will continue to implement the target of "Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the political system", as stated the slogan of the Hanoi Party Committee.
In order to achieve the target, Hai proposed continuing improving the business environment, focusing on the fields of planning, investment, land and construction.
In addition, the city needs to accelerate economic restructuring, industrial development based on technological innovation, deepening participation in the global value chain, keep on with the urban embellishment, minimizing traffic congestion and accidents, Hai noted.
He stressed that socio-cultural development must commensurate with economic development, it is necessary to keep effectively implementing two sets of code of conduct at the office and public places, attach importance to strengthening national defense and security, as well as external activities.
The secretary of the municipal Party Committee required that the adjustment of the medium-term investment plan should be studied carefully, seriously, thoroughly and must comply with the proposed principles and criteria.
