At the reception, Elsbeth Akkerman stressed that the two sides have great potential for cooperation in the field of urban waste treatment, waste-to-energy, and water management.

She said that the Netherlands is actively expanding cooperation with numerous cities around the world, including Vietnam's capital.

Emphasizing that 2018 marked the 45th anniversary of the Vietnam - Netherlands diplomatic relations, Elsbeth Akkerman said the bilateral relations in 2019 will continue to be bolstered with the Dutch prime minister's visit in April, escorted by the delegation of 75-100 Dutch businesses, with the desire to work with Vietnam, especially big cities.

The ambassador wishes to expand cooperation between the Netherlands and Hanoi city to new fields, especially in culture, energy, clean water and smart city.

For his part, the Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Committee agreed with the cooperation contents proposed by the ambassador, and expressed his expectation that the upcoming visit of the Dutch PM to Vietnam will create opportunities for Hanoi’s businesses to cooperate with Dutch enterprises and promote the potential cooperation between the Netherlands and Hanoi in particular, and with Vietnam in general.

Not only in the field of food processing, education, energy, urban planning, Hanoi also hopes to cooperate with the Netherlands in agriculture and bring Dutch plants and flowers to the capital, Chung added.

He also suggested that the Dutch embassy in Hanoi will strengthen relations by organizing traditional cultural exchange programs to the public in Hanoi. He pledged that Hanoi’s authority is willing to support the events.
