According to Ryan T Uy, having served in the Vietnamese market for 34 years, the Philippine Airlines expects that this milestone will contribute to expanding trade opportunities and exchanges between the two countries.

Having numerous partners around the world, the Philippine Airlines wishes to promote the image of Hanoi and Vietnam worldwide. The number of Filipino tourists to Vietnam increased by about 13% in 2018. The opening of this direct flight route is expected to facilitate Vietnamese people's travel to Manila in the time ahead, Ryan T Uy stressed.

Expressing his excitement, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung congratulated the Philippine Airlines and affirmed that the flight will help strengthen the friendship between the two countries in general, and Hanoi and Manila in particular.

As Vietnam and the Philippines are members of the ASEAN Economic Community, the direct flight between the two capitals will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations in culture, trade and tourism exchanges, as well as supporting Hanoi’s growth.

Chung pledged that Hanoi’s authority is always willing to coordinate with the parties, facilitating the activities of the Philippine Airlines.

Briefing about Hanoi’s socio-economic development in 2018, Chung said the city's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) grew 7.61% in 2018. The city welcomed 26.4 million visitors, including 6.05 million international visitors.
