Besides reporting activities of North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump, foreign reporters also focuse on learning about architectural works which are Hanoi’s historical and cultural symbols.
During the second US- DPRK summit on February 27-28, the two leaders expect to discuss improving relations between Washington and Pyongyang, establishing long-term peace on the Korean peninsula. Thus, foreign reporters in Hanoi also want to report on historical works that have been associated with the fighting for peace of the capital’s people in particular and Vietnamese people in general.
The Guesthouse, which formerly was the Tonkin palace, is now the Vietnamese government’s guest house. Here, on August 19, 1945, Hanoi people won the victory over the French colonizers. The house is an ancient architectural work and has a historical meaning to fight for peace. These days, many foreign media have filmed and photographed the house.
The Hanoi Opera House is an ancient architectural work, which is also a symbol of peace and national independence. Reporter groups are also focusing on recording the Hanoi Opera House and the surrounding area.
Sword Lake has been associated with the history of the thousand-year struggle to build and maintain the country for Vietnam’s peace and national independence. Especially, Sword Lake is located right in the center of Hanoi city, surrounded by ancient buildings. In spring, young leaves have sprung up and shaded on the lake’s water surface, making the lake more beautiful.
