Hanoi increases BRT frequency during peak hours

According to statistics of the Hanoi Public Transport Management and Operation Center, since its first launching, the BRT line No. 01 has demonstrated high efficiency.

Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) will increase the frequency of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line No.01 connecting Kim Ma and Yen Nghia bus stations during peak hours to meet commuters' demand.

Statistics show that, in peak hours, the number of passengers using BRT reaches about 105-115 per bus. Therefore, in order to meet the rising demand, especially during rush hours, the Hanoi Department of Transport will put more buses into operation on this route.

Specifically, from Mondays to Saturdays, BRT line No.01 will have its frequency increase by 20 turns per day, including eight in the morning rush hours and 12 in the rush hours after work. On Sunday, the frequency remains unchanged.

The BRT line 01, stretching nearly 15km in length, started operation on December 31, 2016 with a total investment of US$53.6 million. During week days, a BRT bus departs every three minutes in rush hours and every five minutes in normal hours. As many as 35 buses are operated on this route, from 5.00 am to 10.00 pm.

The BRT line 01 is one of the three components in the Hanoi Urban transport investment project, which was approved in 2007 and financed by the World Bank's official development assistance (ODA).
