Hanoi and Copenhaghen have established a sucessful partnership, which offers a playground for the two countries to enhance ties in numerous areas, especially trade and investment.
Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung talked about cooperative plans with newly-appointed Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Højlund Christensen on June 11.
The Ambassador noted that 2021 marks 50th year of Vietnam-Denmark diplomatic relations, an occasion for numerous activities, including business meeting, cultural exchange, high-leveled visits, to take place. “We hope to receive thr Hanoi government’s support to carry out those programs”, said the Danish diplomat.
Ambassador Christensen hailed Hanoi Walking Street as a special cultural space, stressing the hope that the Hanoi government would maintain its support for cultural exchange activities between Vietnam and Denmark in the time ahead, as it has done during the past time.
For his part, Chung said people of Hanoi and Vietnam are always thankful to Danish support during war time and peace time for Vietnam.
Given the fruitful relationship of Vietnam and Denmark, the Hanoi leader hopes that Ambassador Kim Højlund Christensen would promote development experience exchange and mutual visits of trade and investment delegations between the two countries.
The chairman highlighted that Hanoi - Copenhaghen cooperation would focus on enviromental protection, economic management, green economy, climate response, human resources training, investment, among others. Via those partnerships, the two countries’ ties would thrive and achieve more milestones.
The head of the Hanoi government also suggested the Danish Embassy hold Cultural Day as well as lure more Danish enterprises to Hanoi, among many ways to enhance the bilateral relations.
In terms of specific cooperation plan, Chung said that the city heads to basically developed IT solutions to build Hanoi into a smart city by 2025, a plan that Denmark can give a hand to.
During its development path, Hanoi also faces with challenges including environment pollution, traffic jam, and overpopulation. Therefore the city aims to shake hands with European partners, especially those from Denmark to solve these matter, Chung added.
