Hanoi promotes trade and tourism in Mozambique

Hanoi attaches special importance to developing products that have advantages in the Mozambican market such as agricultural products, handicraft goods, garments, furniture, and construction materials.

Hanoi's officials and enterprises have participated in a trade, investment, tourism forum in Mozambique, seeking business opportunities in that African market. 

The event aims to promote the connection between Hanoi and Mozambique businesses, thereby boosting trade exchanges and tourism investment between Maputo and Mozambique cities with Hanoi and Vietnamese localities. The forum attracted 100 representatives of Vietnamese and Mozambican businesses.

Mozambican Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Julio Joao Pio expressed his wish that Hanoi and Mozambique would enhance trade, investment, tourism ties. He encouraged Vietnamese firms, including those from Hanoi, to invest in potential fields of his country such as agriculture, farm produce processing and mining.

Julio Joao Pio also appreciated the recent strides in bilateral relations, including the fruitful investment of Movitel – a joint venture worth over US$600 million of Vietnamese Military Industry-Telecom Group (Viettel) in the African nation.

Speaking at the forum, Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Le Hong Thang highlighted Hanoi's strengths in investment, tourism and trade, including favorable policies, transport infrastructure and human resources.

Thang emphasized the municipal authorities’ resolve to assist foreign enterprises to engage in economic, investment and trade cooperation.

“Hanoi attaches special importance to developing products that have advantages in the Mozambican market such as agricultural products, handicraft goods, garments, furniture, and construction materials,” Thang said.

He hoped that the tourism industry of Hanoi and Mozambique would join hands to attract more tourists from Mozambique and neighboring countries to Vietnam and vice versa.

Enterprises participating in the forum expressed their wish that the two countries would soon sign and implement measures to avoid double taxation and agreement on banking and finance to protect their legitimate interests.

The Mozambican enterprises appreciated the quality of goods samples displayed by Vietnamese enterprises, including products of enterprises under the Ministry of Defense (X26, X22), Sunhouse Group Joint Stock Company, Long Hung Limited Company, among others.
