Bird flu kept under control nationwide

Vietnam reported no bird flu outbreaks during the weeks since April 2, with the five provinces to have previously suffered scares experiencing no new cases, the National Steering Committee on Bird Flu Prevention and Control said on April 15.

However, the committee warned against the possible recurrence and spread of bird flu if localities do not strictly carry out preventive works.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Market Management Department suggested localities maintain quarantine checkpoints.

The department continues to coordinate with 19 provinces and cities to implement the project and prevent the transport and trade of illegally imported poultry.

Farmers are recommended to check the hygiene of farms and sources of small poultry before developing their farming
