Free yoga workshop for healthy living will be held in Hanoi

On September 7th, people above 18 years old can bring their yoga mats and join a free workshop on “Yoga for healthy living” at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC).

The workshop helps yogis discover two themes: Hatha Yoga (steadiness, health, and lightness of body and mind) and Patanjali Yoga (freedom from tension). Those interested are asked to register in advance at www.facebook.com/IndiaInVietnam.
The workshop will take place at the Indian Cultural Centre, 63 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hanoi.
On June 17, the third International Yoga Day – 2017 was held in Statue of King Ly Thai To, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. The event as part of events to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-India bilateral diplomatic ties (January 7, 1972 - 2017) and ten years of their strategic partnership (2007 - 2017).
The third International Yoga Day – 2017 attracted the participation of representatives from local agencies, the leaders of Embassy of India in Hanoi, Yoga experts from India, as well as more than 1,000 people, who love yoga in the capital. Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish believed the event would bring people together for comprehensive health, happiness and community strength, he added.
The third International Yoga Day is an important cultural exchange activity, contributing to strengthening the mutual understanding between the two peoples, as well as realizing the agreements signed by high-ranking leaders of the two countries.
Vietnam was one of the first countries to co-sponsor the United Nations General Assembly Resolution creating International Yoga Day. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi first called for the adoption of June 21 as International Yoga Day while addressing the UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014. The resolution accomplishing this soon followed.
International Day of Yoga or commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on 21 June since its inception in 2015. An international day for yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice attributed mostly to India. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his UN address suggested the date of 21 June, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world.
