Attending the conference were Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, Party Secretary Pham Quang Nghi, comrades of Party Committee and more than 300 scientists, leaders of scientific research agencies and representatives of 5 international organizations closely linked with Hanoi.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi said that in Hanoi these days when residents are excited to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation Day (10/10/1954 - 10/10 / 2014), the workshop titled "60 years since liberation Day- achievements, opportunities, challenges and development" is one of significant activities an opportunity to look back the history of 60 years of struggle, construction and development. The seminar also help city leaders clearly identify Hanoi’s opportunities and challenges in new contexts, learn experienced lessons, draw future plans for Hanoi to develop in the next stage.
More than 70 dissertations were written by scientists from research institutes,universities, cultural institutions, scientific and technical research centres on Hanoi’s development over the past 60 years in all aspects. Particular characteristics of Hanoi of each development stage under general rules of the country in domestic and regional context highlight the difficulties, challenges and all the mistakes, which Hanoi has encountered and overcome. Therfore, Hanoi have more lessons which are helpful for the development of the city in the future.
