Hanoi Tourism Department opened the "Memories of Hanoi" programme at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel on December 30 to bring back the congenial atmosphere of old Hanoi to the dwellers of all ages and international visitors.
Deputy Minister of Sports, Culture and Tourism Dang Bich Lien, Director of Tourism General Nguyen Van Tuan, Deputy Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Le Hong Son attended the opening ceremony.
Addressing the event, Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Do Dinh Hong said the programme aims to reconstruct spaces of the old town with ancient villages as well as the handicraft products of the ancient Thang Long - Hanoi, providing opportunities for domestic and international tourists enjoying an emotional old capital.
The five-day event will take place 4 key activities, including: exhibitions and installation art, decorative art, arts and cultural programmes and the organising to welcome the first international tourist to Hanoi in 2016.
The programme is the first cultural tourism activity held by Hanoi Tourism Department aiming to introduce the capital of Hanoi in memory to numerous local residents, domestic and foreign tourists.
The organizing board arranges various exhibition areas and art installations, mainly made of wood, on Hanoi in the past such as: "Memories of old Hanoi", "Cultural beauty of Hanoi", "Ancient streets in Hanoi".
In addition, spaces of "Cuisine of Hanoi", "Experience Space", "3D Experience Space" displayed at the programme will bring many attractive activities to visitors.
During the programme, various attractive cultural events will take place, such as art activities to welcome 2016 New Year holiday.
Thousands of local residents and tourists gathered at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel at the opening evening to experience and visit ancient Hanoi.
The event is expected to welcome thousands of visitors each day.
The programme will be open free to the end of January 4, 2016.
