That is the goal of a working visit by a Hanoi high-ranking delegation to Finland, Sweden and the Republic of Austria, led by Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, member of the Party Central Committee – the municipal Permanent Deputy Secretary from May 31 to June 10, 2018.In the framework of the visit, the delegation held meetings with authorities and specialized agencies of Helsinki and Southern Ostrobothnia (Finland), Stockholm (Sweden) and Vienna (the Republic of Austria).
The two capitals’ cooperation to boost the Vietnam - Finland good relations
While receiving the Hanoi high-ranking delegation, Ms. Sanna Vesikansa, Vice Mayor of Helsinki City was delighted at positive changes of the Vietnam – Finland ties. She also appreciated the important role of the two capitals and hoped that the relationship between the two cities will grow further in the future.

On behalf of Hanoi’s authority and people, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang expressed her sincere thanks to the Finnish people and the capital of Helsinki for their precious support for Vietnam and Hanoi in the struggle for independence in the past and the ongoing national building.
Briefing on the city’s achievements, she emphasized that Hanoi has paid special attention to strengthening friendly relations and mutual cooperation with cities, localities all over the world and international partners. It aims to mobilize resources to become a civilized and modern city as well as improve local people’s living standards.
Currently, Hanoi has four foreign direct investment (FDI) projects by Finnish companies in services of trade and information technology with the total capital of US$570,000.
Hailing the achievements over the past years, Vice Mayor of Helsinki Sanna Vesikansa said that she will be willing to assist Hanoi in ensuring social welfare and improving the quality of public services for people.
The two leaders believed that the good cooperation between the two cities will significantly contribute to elevating the Vietnam – Finland friendship to a higher level.

At the meeting, both sides reviewed the gained achievements over the past 10 years since the signing of the cooperation agreement between Hanoi and Southern Ostrobothnia.
Hanoi and Southern Ostrobothnia have deployed a series of cooperative activities in fields of socio - economic development, education - training and art performance.
In turn, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang affirmed that the visit is meant to promote the cooperation and learn more about Southern Ostrobothnia’s experiences in various fields of social welfare, investment - trade promotion, tourism, e-government, smart city, green technology, energy.
On the occasion of the visit, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang also had a meeting with President of the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities, Antti Rantakokko, who deployed the labor cooperation program with Hanoi in 2006. With his commitment, enterprises in Kauhajoki city received 18 first employees from Hanoi.
At the meeting, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang and Mr. Antti Rantakokko reviewed the achievements of the cooperation between the two sides over the past ten years.

She affirmed that the city will always support and create favorable conditions for skilled workers working in Finland.
Hanoi gives priority to cooperation in education and training high quality human resources
With the goal of strengthening the cooperation in education – training, especially vocational training, the delegation paid a working visit to a number of vocational schools in Keskuspuisto (Finland), Sedu (Southern Ostrobothnia) and Seinajoki University of Applied Sciences.
At the meetings, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang requested the schools to seek ways to boost stronger ties with colleges, universities and vocational training establishments in Hanoi so as to train high-quality human resources for the city.
On the occasion, the delegation visited an elderly care center of Simunanranta and many public works in Seinajoki. These works have contributed to ensuring and improving the quality of material and spiritual life for local people.
Hanoi to expand cooperation with Stockholm and Vienna
During the visit, the delegation had a working session with Mr. Mats Berglund, President of the Stockholm City Council.
At the reception, Mr. Mats Berglund highly appreciated the visit to Stockholm and expected that it will create great potential to boost the coordination between the two cities.

He also affirmed that Stockholm will be ready to coordinate and assist Hanoi in the above-mentioned fields.
In response, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang expressed her impression of majestic beauty of heritage buildings as well as the gained achievements in fields of economy, society, environment and urban landscape of Stockholm.
She stressed that via the visit, Hanoi hoped to enhance the cooperation with Stockholm and learn more about experiences during the process of urban development, preservation of cultural heritages, especially heritages recognized by UNESCO.
Currently, Hanoi records 13 FDI projects of Sweden with the total capital of US$6 million in fields of IT, consultation, construction, manufacturing and processing industry and commercial services.
In the frame work of the visit to Sweden, the delegation also had a meeting with the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. At the meeting, both sides exchanged information about health care and social welfare, etc.
Promoting cooperation through Vietnam’s embassies in the countries
In the framework of the visit, the delegation visited the Embassies in the three countries and had encounter with the Vietnamese community in Sweden.

Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang asked ambassadors to act as bridges to promote the cooperation between Hanoi and localities in fields of vocational training, smart city, green technology, energy, e-government, environment, waste treatment.
The Ambassadors also affirmed that officials and staffs of the embassies will always strive to promote the cooperation between Vietnam and Finland, Sweden, and the Republic of Austria as well as Hanoi and localities, cities.
On behalf of the delegation, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang expressed her thanks to the ambassadors for their support for the visit.
She also hoped that the ambassadors will continue play their roles to enhance the friendship between Vietnam and countries as well as Hanoi and international partners.
