Vietnam affirms persistent stance on denuclearization after no-deal summit

A Vietnamese spokesperson said that Vietnam will continue supporting the denuclearization for peace on the Korean Peninsula and the whole world.

Vietnam continues supporting the denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula to keep peace in the region and the world, a spokesperson said after the summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ended with no agreement.

Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said that Hanoi expects the continuity of dialogues among involved parties and will work as a mediator for the world’s peace, mostly on the Korean Peninsula. 

Hang affirmed that "Vietnam will keep contributing to the progress in a reliable and responsible maner."

She stated that "the summit marked an important step toward denuclearization which President Trump and leader Kim have made during the summit."

As the host of the Trump-Kim second summit, Vietnam has spared no efforts to organize the event considerably and safely, showing the country’s independent, reliable, and responsible manner in the international community, Hang said.
