Vietnam requests China to end illegal actions in the East Sea

China`s recent actions in Spratly and Paracel islands invade Vietnam’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos, facing fierce opposition from the country, said representative of Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry.

Accordingly, Vietnam requests China to immediately end illegal actions that violate the Vietnam’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos. “Vietnam has sufficient legitimate foundation and historic evidence to claim its sovereignty over Spratly and Paracel islands”, Le Thi Thu Hang, Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson told the press when being asked over recent actions of China in the East Sea.

China's recent activities such as the underwater construction by the ship You Lian Tuo 9, the organization of a sailboat race in the area of Paracel archipelago, and the installation of new electronic equipment jamming radars on Fiery Cross and Mischief Reefs in Spratly islands violated seriously the Vietnam’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos.
The actions go against basic principles to solve the sea disputes between Vietnam and China, spirit of DOC-Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, which Vietnam calls East Sea and complicate the situation, affect negatively to the regional peace and stabilization, according to Hang.
Hence, Vietnam request China to immediately stop the above actions, respect Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos, not increase the strain and complicate the regional context, pressed Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson.
