GMS Business Summit kicks off in Hanoi

The first Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Business Summit opened in Hanoi today as part of the sixth GMS Summit (GMS-6) and the 10th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Summit (CLV-10).

The summit attracted over 2,000 enterprises worldwide, focused on regional economic prospect and development force in the time ahead. The private sector action plan is on the agenda also.
Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung hopes that “the GMS Business Summit would help GMS members to evaluate the chance of development and growth, generating attractiveness to investors and partners.”

"It’s the chance for us to share the vision and exchange the networking occasion in the future", Dung added. The minister highlights that GMS community will be responsible for creating new value for the growth of not only group members but also the region. “GMS enterprises should keep connecting large, small and medium enterprises to utilize their chance, support each other to develop, forming a group of enterprises with competitive advantages, from which to enter the global market and value chain.”
Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also hopes the GMS nations would reinforce cooperation, head to the mutual development target; fulfil the committed action plans, agreements; make use of US$66 billion investment for more than 220 projects in the region and level up the six GMS nations’ socio-economic platform.
During the opening session this morning, delegates talked about the economic integration, challenges and forces for the GMS’s economic growth; new business models, private sector development strategic plan as well as listen to voices from businesswomen, young entrepreneurs. 
Meanwhile, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) suggested to establish the GMS businesswomen network and GMS startup network, cited Vu Tien Loc, Head of the Chamber.  Loc said, along with attending initiatives, programs, projects to promote the regional connection, free trade, human resources, environment protection and sustainable development… the enterprise community would be willing to reinforce GMS power in integration and development.
This evening, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and other leaders from GMS members would co-chair the General Session of Policy Dialogue.
Vietnam hosting the GMS-6 and CLV-10 continues to affirm the country’s increasing position, as well as its role and contributions to regional cooperation mechanisms.
The sixth Greater Mekong Sub-region Summit, themed "Leveraging 25 years of cooperation, Building an integrated, sustainable and prosperous GMS" aims to celebrate the 25th founding anniversary of the GMS Programme and define cooperation orientations to build a region of prosperity, integration and sustainable development.
Meanwhile, the CLV-10 aims to review the implementation of the Master Plan for Socio-Economic Development of the CLV Development Triangle Area for 2010-2020 and discuss cooperation orientations in the coming time, especially seeking to increase the trilateral economic connectivity.
