Leaders from Lao Cai Province reported that the rural development project in response to natural calamities in six provinces consists of 78 sub projects, focusing on irrigation, river banks, anti-erosion embankments and transport.
The total capital investment for the project is worth VND2,900billion (¥14.3 billion), including VND2,365 billion from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s Official Development Assistance (ODA).
When completed, the project will help 420,000 households get easy access to inputs for agricultural production and markets, improve productivity of plants and animals, and especially increase resilience and adaption to climate change.
The preparation works for the project, which have been carried out since 2016, have been fulfilled.
Leaders from these provinces suggested the PM consider and approve proposals of the project for launching the upcoming steps of the project.
Speaking at the meeting, PM Phuc asked leaders from provinces to carry out rates of progress of the project as regulated, focusing on irrigation and transport to ensure transportation of goods and local people’s demands for travelling.
He required the Ministry of Finance to provide reasonable interest rates and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to hold responsible for inspecting and ensuring the implementation tempo of the project.
The PM also stressed the need for seeking other resources to support six provinces in launching the project.
