At the meeting with US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in Washington on June 25, Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue said that Vietnam attaches great importance to the finance-business ties with the US, and appraised the bilateral comprehensive partnership that has entered a new phase with many favorable conditions.
Notably, the Vietnamese official proposed forming additional dialogue channels betweeen Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance and the US's relevant agencies.
He also offered to accelerate the finalization of the agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion/avoidance (Double Tax Agreement), reopen the channels of official development assistance (ODA) and preferential loans for Vietnam and enhance the direct and indirect funding programs via non-government organizations to carry out humanitarian and development assistance projects in Vietnam.

US Treasury Secretary Mnuchin hailed the US’s visit of Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue as a signal of goodwill and determination of Vietnam goverment in implementing the high-level commitments, fostering the US-Vietnam ties in the future.
Secretary Mnuchin affirmed the potentials remain open for both countries to increase the trade and investment cooperation. He expressed hope to visit Vietnam soon to materialize those opportunities, turning the US into Vietnam's top partner in investment and trade.
The US official pledged to direct related agencies of to study and conduct practical suggestions made by Deputy PM Hue. He also thanked Vietnam for seriously implementing the Security Council (United Nation)’s resolutions over the nuclear program of North Korea.
Within the trip, Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways and US’s Boeing signed a US$5.6 billion contract on the purchase of 20 Boeing wide-bodied planes. Besides, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade granted a renewed investment license to Murphy Oil Corporation.
Earlier, the two nations’ customs agencies finalized a Customs Mutual Assistance Agreement (CMAA).
