Vietnam speaks of the nomination of Party chief as presidential candidate

The move is in harmony with the will of Vietnamese people and voters, said Vietnam`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday.

During the regular press conference on October 4, Spokesperson of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said the nomination of the party chief as presidential candidate at the eighth plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee was in line with stipulations and regulations of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The Vietnam Communist Party's Central Committee has nominated General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong the single candidate to be the country's next state president.

The committee voted on Wednesday to introduce Trong as a candidate for the head of state post to be ratified at Vietnam’s legislative National Assembly, which will be in session between October 21 and November 19.
