Austria is the first leg of Phuc`s tour to Europe.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his spouse landed in Vienna on October 14, starting an official visit to Austria at the invitation of Austrian Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz.
During the three-day visit from October 14 to 16, Phuc is expected to hold talks with his Austrian counterpart and witness the signing of some bilateral cooperation documents.
As planned, the PM will also have some meetings, talks with Austrian senior leaders. He’s also scheduled to visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, Vietnamese people in Austria and European countries, and meet with representatives from Austrian leading firms.
Especially, the PM will attend and speak at the Vietnam- Austria Enterprise Forum and witness the signing ceremony of some cooperation documents between the two countries’ businesses.
Austria is the first leg of Phuc's tour to Europe. He will lead Vietnamese delegation take part in the 12th Summit of the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM12), the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 Summit (P4G) in Copenhagen, Denmark, as well as paying official visits to Belgium and Denmark and working at the European Union (EU) from October 14-21.
Austria is among the first European countries to establish the diplomatic relations with Vietnam. The two countries’ ties have developed in various areas. Both sides maintain the contacts, exchanges of high-ranking delegation and close partnership in multilateral forums such as the United Nation, Asia Europe business forum, etc.
Trade ties between Vietnam-Austria have made much progress during the recent years. In 2017, two-way trade volume reached over US$4 billion, up 42% over the previous year. Austria is currently the sixth largest export market of Vietnam in Europe.
