Promoting implementation of Hanoi - Moscow cooperation projects

On May 18, Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam K.V.Vnukov on the occasion of his courtesy visit.

At the meeting, Ambassador K.V.Vnukov pleased to announce that the visit of Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in the Russian Federation was so successful, attracting huge media attention.

Ambassador K.V.Vnukov expressed his impression that Hanoi is growing strongly in recent years. He also wants the two countries, especially Hanoi and Moscow should strengthen cooperation to expand economic development, trade and cultural exchanges. The Russian diplomat pledged to work to help speed up the implementation of cooperation projects. He hoped that Hanoi would create favarouble conditions for the construction of the Moscow Trade-Culture Centre. He also proposed building a statue of Alexander Pushkin – Russia’s greatest poet – in Hanoi.

Agreeing with the statement of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung confirmed that Vietnam - Russia's traditional ties in particular is adherence to the history of national liberation and struggle people of Vietnam.

Chung informed his guest that Hanoi had invited the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ), Russia’s largest vehicle manufacturer, to visit Hanoi to discuss assembling 300 buses for 2016-2017. He stated that tariff incentives in the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union free trade agreement, which is about to become effective, will boost trade between the two cities. He said he hoped the Moscow Trade-Culture Centre in Hanoi would be put into operation soon to facilitate trade and cultural ties. 

The Chairman wish that the Ambassador, on his rank, will care, support and assistance to implement this project and to accelerate project deployment for Russian Cultural Center to perform in Hanoi. For booking Pushkin poet monument that proposed by Ambassador, there will be official diplomatic note on this matter to the City People's Council of Hanoi to be considered. City Chairman said that, in addition, the city is working with a number of domestic units programmed to invite Russian companies, Russian veterans who helped to support Vietnam in Hanoi exchanges.

Concurred with the recommendation of City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, the Ambassador fully supports project buses of Gaz Group (Russia) and pledges to do their utmost to promote cooperative relations and friendship between the Russian Federation and Vietnam, as well as Moscow and Hanoi is strengthened in terms of economic, trade and cultural exchanges.
