Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy presided over a working session with the General Department of Vocational Training (the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs) on May 10, preparing for the 10th National Skills Competition 2018.
The National Skills Competition is held biennially, aiming to honor skilled young workforce; create emulation movements in vocational skills training and learning among enterprises and vocational education establishments; improve the quality of human resources in production, trade and services, contributing to increasing the labor productivity as well as national competitiveness.
Accordingly, the 2018 National Skills Competition will take place from May 15 to 23, attracting about 1,200 people, including 520 competitors from 56 delegations, 48 provinces and centrally-run cities throughout the country. The competitors, all under 22, are winners of local competitions held earlier nationwide. They will compete in 24 occupational skills and two performance skills.
Especially, Hanoi has a total of 47 contestants competing in 24 major professions.
Along with the National Skills Competition, a professional skills festival for vocational training teachers is also organized every three years so as to promote the emulation movement of good teaching and good studying; encourage vocational training teachers to improve their professional skills and effectively innovate teaching methods, equipments, etc.
The festival will be held from September 15 to 21, 2018 with the participation of more than 400 teachers representing 63 provinces and cities throughout the country.
To well prepare for the events, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy assigned departments, sectors in collaboration with the General Department of Vocational Training to carry out key missions.
Particularly, the Department of Culture and Sports will create favorable conditions to strengthen the popularization. Departments of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Health, Police Department, Hanoi Power Corporation jointly make plans on ensuring security, healthcare, fire prevention and well managing traffic flows for contestants.
Vocational Training Schools in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training will mobilize students to take part in the events.
