The Hanoi People’s Committee has organized a ceremony, launching the Action Month for Children in 2018 with the theme “For children’s safe and healthy living in the digital world”.
The event saw the attendance of Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy, leaders of the Central, Hanoi departments, agencies, and 500 children of Tay Ho District.
The action month is a chance to promote the movement of all people educate and protect children; strengthen the popularization to encourage agencies, organizations, education establishments, families and individuals to take policies and programs for children.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that Hanoi has more than 1.8 million children, including over 14,000 ones in difficult circumstances and over 35,000 those who are at risk of falling into special circumstances.
Over the past years, the capital has effectively deployed guidelines, policies of the Party and State to create better conditions for children’s comprehensive development.
However, apart from the outstanding achievements, Hanoi has been coping with a number of difficulties and challenges in protecting and caring for children.
To carry out child rights and regulations on child protection in the context of the 4th industrial revolution and the digital world, Vice Chairman Ngo Van Quy asked departments, sectors, collectives and districts, towns to well implement key missions, including: promoting the popularization to raise the awareness and mobilize the participation of Party Committees, authorities, collectives, organizations, families and children in implementing the rights and duties of children, especially preventing child abuse and violence in the digital world.
At the ceremony, the National Fund for Vietnamese Children presented entertainment equipments worth over VND 300 million to five outskirt districts, Quoc Oai, Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, Ba Vi, Tay Ho. Besides, the Municipal People’s Committee also gave 10 scholarships worth VND 20 million to excellent students in need.
