This is the response from the Ministry of Transport after the petition of FPT Software Limited Company for testing self-driving cars in the internal road of Ho Chi Minh City’s hi-tech park, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

In order to test the self-driving cars in the internal roads of the high-tech zone, the Ministry of Transport asked the FPT Software Limited Company to work with the high-tech zone authority to approve the testing plan.

In addition, the ministry requires the company to report on the test results of self-steering cars in internal roads of hi-tech parks and solutions to issues arising in the test on public roads after obtaining the permission of the competent authority.

FPT Software Limited Company had set up the division of FGA (FPT Global Autonomous Driving) to develop automotive applications with three main areas namely autonomous cars, safety system and entertainment system.

In the field of autonomous cars, after one year of research and development, the company successfully carried out self-driving tests in the interior of the F-town building at the Ho Chi Minh City Hi-tech Park. The car was able to run at a speed of 25km/h, be self-aligned, actively turn left and right in accordance with the road signals, cross the road, automatically brake and avoid obstacles.
