This activity is part of the dialogue series "Press with sustainable development" and the sidelines of the "Press for sustainable development" competition launched by RED.

The dialogue saw the attendance of representatives from the Center for Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and Cultural Development in Southeast Asia and gender specialists from CARE.

Addressing the dialogue, CARE gender specialist Truong Quang Hong stressed some misunderstandings about gender equality.

Hong also focused on a number of ways to exploit the topic of journalism from the gender perspective to help journalists have more choices and ideas.

With a fund from the Irish Aid, CARE - a leading humanitarian and development organization in the field of poverty reduction and promoting gender equality in Vietnam - will strengthen the support for Vietnamese journalists to have more knowledge about gender issues, Hong added.

The sharing of knowledge, information on gender, gender equality at the dialogue helped journalists recognize gender perspectives, gender equality in sustainable development, especially in regions home to ethnic minorities.

The dialogue selected two fields to illustrate the issue, which were information access and use of forest and land resources.

In addition, CARE's gender specialists helped journalists better understand the consequences of gender inequalities for sustainable development in Vietnam, as well as the various forms of gender inequality persisting from care for the family to information access and economic resources such as land and forest land.
