Vietnam and Singapore maintain a strategic partnership, and the two countries are expanding cooperation in all fields.
Singapore hopes that Vietnam will continue to support and facilitate the cooperation in law building and crime prevention, said Singapore’s Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam at the meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on December 6.
At the talks, Minister Shanmugam emphasized that Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs’ working visit to Vietnam is to tighten the multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security, contributing to strengthening Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership.
Shanmugam also briefed PM Phuc about the effective cooperation between Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs over the past time, adding that the two sides have jointly conducted many important working sessions, not only at the leadership level but also at the departmental level.
Besides, the two ministries have also actively implemented of the law enforcement cooperation in the fight against crime, fire protection and rescue. It has made active contributions to the defense-security cooperation in each country and peaceful and stable environment in the region. The two sides also agreed to keep promoting and further expanding cooperation in the time ahead, Shanmugam added.
On international issues, considering that ASEAN is playing an increasingly important role in global cooperative structures, Shanmugam wants the ASEAN nations to further heighten the spirit of solidarity in the context of world’s political turmoil, complex and unpredictable developments.
Agreeing with Minister Shanmugam, PM Phuc affirmed that the Vietnamese government always supports and facilitates Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs to strengthen cooperation in related fields.
On the basis of the achievements of the two countries' cooperation, the two ministries should intensify mutual consultations in addressing issues of common concern, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability and development in each country, as well as in the region, Phuc said.
He pointed out that Vietnam and Singapore maintain a strategic partnership, and the two countries are expanding cooperation in all fields. Singapore is Vietnam’s third largest foreign investor. Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs have contributed greatly to the two countries’ achievements in recent years, Phuc added.
In the field of crime fighting and prevention, the PM suggested that the two sides maintain the mechanisms for cooperation, share relevant crime information, coordinate the investigation and verification of crimes related to the two countries, especially ensuring cyber security, cybercrime, economic criminals, drugs criminals, terrorism and wanted criminal persecution.
