Vietnam greets the first e-visa tourist in HCM City

The HCM City Department of Tourism and the Immigration Management Department organised a ceremony on February 4 to welcome Richard Kenneth Wilson (Britain), the first e-visa visitor to Vietnam at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

The organising board of the ceremony presented a souvenir and extended New Year wishes to the tourist of honour.

Earlier, Wilson applied for an entry e-Visa to stay in Vietnam from February 3 to March 5. The Immigration Management Department granted the first Vietnamese e-visa to him on February 1, the same day as the Government Decree No. 07/2017/ND-CP took effective.
According to the decree,  procedures for applying and payment will be done online. It will take 3 days to process application for an e-visa valid for 30 days. The visa does not require letters of guarantee or invitation.
Foreign citizens can access the websites http://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn or http://www.immigration.gov.vn to apply for e-visas.
Foreign citizens will be granted a e-visas for exit and entry through international border gates as listed in Appendix II attached to Decree 07/2017-ND-CP.
Vietnam’s e-visa is applicable to citizens of the foreign countries with valid passports, who wish to come to Vietnam for tourism or other purposes such as seeking trade partners, and so on.
The Vietnamese agency in charge of immigration management can now grant Vietnamese visas directly to foreigners instead of doing so through Vietnam’s overseas representative offices as previously done.
During the recent Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays from January 20 to February 1, HCM City received roughly 253,000 arrivals of foreign tourists, with the number of international flights to the city reaching 120-135 flights per day on average.
