More than 93% of foreigners satisfied with their trips to Vietnam: survey

American tourists are among the most generous spenders in Vietnam.

Over 93% of interviewed foreign tourists said they are satisfied with their trips to Vietnam and only 0.63% of them expressed dissatisfaction, according to the Vietnam Annual Tourism Report 2017 by the Vietnamese tourims authority VNAT.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) had distributed 27,000 ballots to foreigners at 12 international bordergates nationwide, including four airports, four land border gates and four seaports.
The survey showed that more than 92.5% of tourists stayed overnight in Vietnam at tourism accommodations, and 7.4% visited the country within one day. Over 60% of the visitors organised tours by themselves.
Meanwhile, each foreign visitor staying at tourism accommodations spent an average of US$1,171 in Vietnam, with Asian visitors spending US$995, European visitors US$1,295, vistors from Oceania US$1,791, and those from the Americas US$1,525. About 60% of the respondents were visiting Vietnam for the first time, according to the report.
The number of foreign tourists to Vietnam in the first half of 2018 was estimated at 7.9 million, up 27.2% year-on-year. The country also witnessed around 42.8 million domestic tourists exploring the nation in this period, according to General Statistics Office .
Total revenue from Vietnam tourism is estimated at VND312 trillion (US$13.5 billion) between January and June, rising by 22.5% from the same period last year.
Most recently, a tourism promotion program was organized in the four European countries namely Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic on June 19 - 28. This was the first time that Vietnamese tourism has been promoted in Hungary, which reported a rise of 30% in the number of visitors to Vietnam in 2017.
A series of activities have been also organized in Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu and Busan of South Korea from June 18 to 25. In 2017, Vietnam welcomed 2.4 million South Korean tourists, up 56.4% from the previous year. In the first half of this year, over 1.7 million South Korean tourists arrived to Vietnam, soaring 60.7% year-on-year.
