The event is one of the activities marking the occasion of the Japanese culture days in Quang Nam and the 16th Hoi An – Japan cultural exchange.
Thirteen traditional handicraft villages from Hanoi and six traditional handicraft villages of Quang Nam will be showcasing their products at An Hoi Sculpture Garden, Hoi An town of Quang Nam province from August 17 to 19.
The craft fair will feature the participation of Quang Nam Tourism Promotion and Information Center, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Quang Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Hanoi municipal Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion Center.
The event aims to honor and develop traditional handicraft villages in Hanoi and Quang Nam and help artisans to share information, experiences and cooperation between traditional villages.
Hoi An Ancient City was one of the busiest trading ports of Southeast Asia in the 17th and 18th centuries. Since its inception in the 16th century, many traders, especially those from Japan, camethe city for trade, building cultural works and unique architectures.
In 2017, the 15th Hoi An – Japan cultural exchange opened in Hoi An ancient city, the central province of Quang Nam. The event, co-held by Hoi An city and the Japanese embassy and agencies in Vietnam, marked 16 years of cooperation and exchange between the Vietnamese city and Japan, and promotes exchange and cooperation on culture, tourism, training and trade between Quang Nam province and Japanese partners.
The event featured a plenty of cultural and art activities such as a photo exhibition on the diversification of Vietnamese culture, a Hoi An - Japan art exchange, a Judo martial arts perform and Hoi An - Japan traditional handicrafts, among others.
In 2017, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Japanese counterpart, Shinzo Abe, launched the Vietnam – Japan cultural space in Hoi An.
