The national Steering Committee for major events organisation held a press conference to announce activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2) in Hanoi on August 12.
Accordingly, various important activities will take place to mark the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
On September 1, leaders from the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hanoi will pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and to national heroic martyrs at their monument in the capital city.
On September 2, a solemn meeting and a massive parade will be held in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Square. Prior to the meeting, a 21-gun salute will be fired from the Thang Long Royal Citadel.
As many as 30,000 people will join the massive parade. Participants include representatives from armed forces and various social backgrounds, such as war veterans, workers, farmers, entrepreneurs, youth, women and ethnic minority people.
They will march from Ba Dinh square and go along major downtown streets in Hanoi in two directions, one heading to Nguyen Thai Hoc-Kim Ma-Lieu Giai, and the other to Nguyen Thai Hoc-Hang Khay-Trang Tien-Opera House.
Under the theme “Promoting the strength of the entire nation and being determined to build and firmly defend the Socialist Republic of Vietnam”, the parade aims to affirm the great historical values of the August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in the history of the nation’s multi-thousand-year construction and defence.
After the march, a major art performance will be held featuring a series of famous singers.
Firework displays will be fired in five locations in Hanoi, including Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake, My Dinh Stadium, and West Lake.
Other activities will include an exhibition on the country’s socio-economic achievements so far and a live TV programme connecting various sites across the country.
On the occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have designed and published a badge on the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. All participants will wear the badge at the parade on September 2.
