Australia prioritizes to poor ODA for Vietnam
Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue on July 25 held a working session with Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop and visited the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) InnovationXchange within the framework of his working and official visit to Australia.
At the meeting with Minister Julie Bishop, the two sides agreed measures to consolidate the Comprehensive Partnership in fields of politics, economics-trade, agriculture, education-training, science-technology, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
They consented to deepen the bilateral relationship and make preparations for the meetings of the two sides’ high-ranking leaders at the end of 2017 and early 2018, heading to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties by 2018.
Ms. Julie Bishop affirmed to provide the Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Vietnam in such areas as climate change adaption, human resources development and gender equality. Deputy PM Hue highly valued the role of Australia as a development partner of Vietnam, asserting that Vietnam will use the ODA effectively for realizing poverty reduction goals.
The two sides discussed and shared viewpoints on the international and regional situations, assenting to continue close and active mutual cooperation at multi-lateral forums, especially ASEAN. Australia asserts to advocate ASEAN completing plans to establish the ASEAN Community, enhance connections, narrow development gaps, consolidate internal block and uphold the central role in addressing strategic issues in the region.
They highlighted the importance of maintaining t peace, stability, maritime and over flight security, safety and freedom in the region, addressing disputes with peaceful measures based on international regulations, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982, respecting diplomatic and legal processes, preventing unilateral activities to cause strains and disputes as well as strictly implementing the building of Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC) and soon reaching the formation of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
