Chiang Mai Journalists' Association works with Economic & Urban Newspaper

A delegation of the Chiang Mai Journalists’ Association led by Chairman Amnat Jongyotying has worked with the Economic & Urban Newspaper for further cooperation in the long-lasting relationship.

In a warm welcome ceremony held on December 23, the Economic & Urban Newspaper’s Deputy Editor-in-chief, Nguyen Xuan Khanh, expressed his delight at the delegation’s visit, which came at a time when the newspaper celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Deputy Editor-in-chief Nguyen Xuan Khanh extended his thanks to Amnat Jongyotying and the association’s members for their wishes for the newspaper’s anniversary and their contributions to the relationship between the two sides over the past time. He expected the cooperation to be fruitful in the coming time based on the years-long relations.

Khanh, on behalf of the editorial board, affirmed the newspaper’s undertakings that involved promoting its foreign relations set for years to boost the two sides’ relations in different fields with a focus on mutual understanding and experience exchange amid the evolving digital and social landscape.

He also introduced the guests to the newspaper’s media channels, including printed newspaper, Vietnamese e-newspaper, The Hanoi Times, multimedia, and specialized websites,

Amnat admired the newspaper’s development over the past years regarding location and manpower. As he witnessed the change, he described the newly built office as a “prime location” in the central part of Hanoi. Meanwhile, he said the news agency’s staff is a precious asset for their qualifications in the digital era.

He appreciated the newspaper's diverse products and their effective operations. He said that after the Covid-19 pandemic, newspapers in Chiang Mai have faced numerous difficulties which is shown through the falling number of printed newspapers while the Economic & Urban Newspaper runs well.

Regarding this, Khanh said that the newspaper is willing to share experiences and boost exchanges for effective cooperation with the news agencies in Chiang Mai.

On this occasion, the Chiang Mai Journalists’ Association visited some famous destinations in Hanoi, including Bat Trang Ceramics Village – a reputable handicraft village with a history of seven centuries; Thang Long Imperial Citadel – a UNESCO-recognized heritage site; and Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam or the Temple of Literature – the oldest university of Vietnam dated more than 1,000 years.

“I’ve bought some pottery products in Bat Trang Ceramics Village. They are lovely that I’ve never seen in the market,” said Saowaluk Siri.

Pornrak felt excited when exploring Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The capital of Dai Viet, under the Ly, Tran, and Le dynasties from the 11th to the 18th centuries, is now one of the most remarkable historical sites in Hanoi.

Both Pornrak and Saowaluk Siri said the site is valuable in terms of historical value, saying that Vietnamese people must be proud of their brave struggles for national sovereignty.

Meanwhile, Ronachai Boonlert appreciated the quintessence of Vietnam’s education when experiencing a night tour at the Temple of Literature. He appreciated the tradition of studiousness among Vietnamese people while admiring Vietnamese struggles for national independence and the spirit of never giving up.

Sharing the same idea, Rassanee Namwong said the historical relic is the best example of the tradition of studiousness among Vietnamese, adding that she would introduce the destination to her friends in Thailand.

In this regard, Deputy Editor-in-chief Nguyen Xuan Khanh of the Economic & Urban Newspaper and Chairman of the Chiang Mai Journalists’ Association discussed the prospects of boosting people-to-people ties and tourism in Hanoi and Chiang Mai.
