Chinese President to pay State visit to Vietnam

General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping will make a State visit to Vietnam from November 5-6.

The visit will be made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang, the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on October 29.

Vietnam and China established the diplomatic relationship on January 18, 1950.

In April this year, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong also paid an official visit to China.

During the past decade, China has continually been Vietnam’s largest trade partner while Vietnam has become the second biggest ASEAN trade partner of its neighbour.

Last year, two-way trade volume hit US$58.87 billion. With a total investment of US$7.94 billion in 1,082 projects, China became the ninth largest foreign investor in Vietnam by later last year.
