Defence Minister to attend 13th Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore

Politburo member and Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh left Hanoi in the morning of May 30 for Singapore to attend the 13th IISS Asia Security Summit, better known as the Shangri-La Dialogue.

Hosted by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the annual dialogue will take place from May 30 to June 1. 
 
 
The three-day event includes five sessions, with a focus on contributions of the US to regional stability, measures to strengthen defence cooperation, management on strategic tensions, opinions of powerful countries on peace and security in Asia-Pacific, as well as management on changes in conflicts in the region.
As scheduled, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will deliver a keynote speech at the Dialogue, drawing participation of 13 representatives from many countries, including Prime Ministers, Defence Ministers, senior military officials and scholars.
