Deputy PM receives German parliamentary group leader

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception in Hanoi on August 24 for Volker Kauder, parliamentary group leader of the ruling Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) of the German Parliament.

Expressing his satisfaction with the bilateral strategic partnership across politics-diplomacy, economics, development cooperation and education-training, the host stated that Vietnam values the development of ties with Germany which plays a significant role in Europe and the world.

Kauder, in response, said the German parliament continually backs the promotion of mutually-beneficial ties between the two countries. 
Both sides welcomed the upcoming signing of a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Union, saying that it will definitely open up new cooperation prospects for the two business communities and regions at large. 
They agreed to direct agencies and businesses to utilise their strength and further deepen the Vietnam - Germany strategic partnership. 
Host and guest also touched on regional and global issues of shared concern, including the East Sea issue.
