Ensuring the developing member countries to benefit from the TPP

President Truong Tan Sang suggested that members should promote the spirit of cooperation based on mutual respect and mutual benefit, pay attention to the practices and the diversity of development levels of the TPP countries to ensure that the people in the developing member countries can benefit from this agreement.

Held on the occasion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, TPP has become an annual practice since TPP was officially launched in 2010.

President said that the implementation of the Agreement will pose significant challenges, especially for developing members, simultaneously suggested that members should continue close coordination, assistance and mutual support to ensure early signing, ratification and implementation of TPP.

To achieve this common goal, President Truong Tan Sang suggested that members should continue to promote the spirit of cooperation based on mutual respect and mutual benefit, pay due attention to the practice and diversity form on the development levels of the TPP countries, enhance technical support and improve enforcement capacity to ensure people in the developing member countries can benefit from the TPP.

President stressed that the TPP is increasingly getting the attention of our partners in the region, favorable precondition towards forming a free trade area throughout Asia-Pacific, contributing to increase the attractiveness and significance of the TPP to the process of regional connectivity in the new period.

In the next statement, the leaders shared a common joy and expressed confidence, with the level of liberalization of trade and investment in the most sweeping, TPP will promote and expand links in the interests of member economies, enhancing the competitiveness of the sector, while promising to create more employment opportunities for local people, especially the youth, in the TPP countries.

The leaders affirmed that the efforts to promote the signing, ratification and TPP soon takes effect so that consumers, workers, farmers and businesses in the member countries can enjoy interests from TPP.

Ending the meeting, the leaders adopted a joint statement, expressing strong determination of 12 member countries and efforts to promote the process of signing and ratification in each country to soon take the TPP into effect.

The meeting this year has great significance, marking a milestone to complete TPP balance, comprehensive negotiations after more than 5 years. The entire contents of the Agreement has been published in the countries participating in the TPP on November 5. Currently, 12 member countries are working to complete the internal procedures to be able to soon sign and ratify the Agreement according to the schedule.
