Environmental sanitation campaigns launched in Hanoi Capital

The Hanoi People’s Committee issued the Official Letter No. 3905/UBND-KGVX on August 11 on strengthening preventive measures for dengue fever in the area.



 

At present, dengue fever has aggravated  in Hanoi with the sharp increase in number  of cases in comparison with the same period last year. There is no specific medication for treatment of  dengue infection,. A better option is to eradicate the mosquitoes transmitting the disease. To further enhance the prevention and control of the disease in the area, the Municipal People’s Committee asked departments, sectors, agencies, collectives, People’s Committees of districts and towns to drastically implement following measures: 

The entire city will launch environmental sanitation campaigns from Saturday (August 12, 2017) such as: killing mosquitoes and larva, spraying chemicals in localities in association with boosting the dissemination of epidemic prevention and control.

People’s Committees of districts and towns are assigned  to establish mobile teams and supervision groups to prevent the spread of the epidemic; maintain the inspection; arrange full funds for prevention and control of dengue fever, etc.


 

Authorities at all levels will mobilize the participation of the whole political system, collectives and local people in preventing the disease; strictly handle organizations and individuals who fail to apply  preventive measures for dengue fever in localities as stipulated by law; review the prevention every week to evaluate the epidemic situation as well as offer treatment in order to effectively control the disease in localities.

The Department of Health will continue carrying specialized measures, such as supervising, investigating, making records of dengue fever in the area, instructing localities to treat outbreaks, choose the reasonable chemicals to kill mosquitoes and larva, etc; well implementing the emergency and treatment for cases of dengue fever; ensuring enough medicines, chemicals, medical equipments for the prevention and control of the disease.

The Department of Information and Communication, Hanoi Radio and Television and press agencies in the capital city are tasked to cooperate with departments, sectors, agencies, People’s Committees of districts, towns to disseminate  and educate people  on preventing dangue fever via diversified forms in accordance with recommendations of the Ministry of Health to raise the public awareness in preventing the spread of dengue fever in the community.

Departments, sectors and agencies, on basis of their functions and  assigned missions, are in charge in coordinating with the Department of Health, People’s Committees of districts and towns to strengthen the prevention and control of dengue fever.

Hanoi People’s Committee asked Directors, Heads of Departments, sectors and Chair-people of People’s Committees of districts and towns to strictly carry out the above tasks; assigned the Department of Health to  gather full information of the disease situation and the prevention, and then submit reports to  the Municipal Party Committee, the People's Committee and the Ministry of Health.
