Hanoi and Saijo City (Japan) to promote co-development

Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had a meeting with Mr. Tamai Toshihisa - Mayor of Saijo City (Japan) on April 27 during his working visit to Vietnam.

Mayor Toshihisa Tamai said the purpose of the delegation's visit is to promote cooperation and friendship between Saijo City and Hanoi Capital. At the same time, it opens opportunities for cooperation with Saijo's businesses in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung introduced the basic features, geography, socio-economic population of Hanoi Capital. Hanoi has an urbanization rate of 38%, agriculture accounts for 62%, with 60% of the population still are dependent on agriculture; the GRDP growth rate for 2010 - 2015 is 7.35%, increasing by 8.2%; foreign direct investment (FDI) increased by over 10%, of which Japan was in the top FDI inflows in Hanoi. In 2016, Hanoi welcomed 21 million tourists, including 4.5 million international tourists and the number of Japanese tourists ranked third in the international market share. Currently, most of big Japanese companies are based in Hanoi such as: Toyota; Panasonic, Canon, etc.


According to Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, in the coming years, Hanoi will focus on three breakthroughs: investment in transport infrastructure and social infrastructure; training high quality human resources; promoting PAR. Therefore, in addition to the above-mentioned fields, the City called for foreign investment to focus on the development of high-tech agriculture; investing in bio-tech parks, high technologies and so on.

"With the strength and scale of many small and medium enterprises, owning high technology in agriculture, businesses of Saijo City will have more investment opportunities in Hanoi in the future," said Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung. Highlighting and trusting, the visit of Saijo delegation will be a great success, contributing to the friendship between the two countries as well as the two cities of Hanoi and Saijo, that is strengthened and well developed.

Mayor Saijo is pleased to announce that in early June, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung will accompany the Vietnamese Prime Minister to visit and work in Japan. Mayor Saijo would like to invite Chairman Chung to visit Saijo City to concretize the contents of cooperation and to create opportunities for two cities to cooperate in development. Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung happily accepted the invitation.
