Hanoi Department of Health reviews its work in the first 6 months

The Hanoi Department of Health organized a conference on July 26, reviewing the activities in the first half of the year as well as deploying key missions in the second half of 2017.



 
According to a report by the health sector, in the first half of 2017, Hanoi completed a number of important targets, such as: reducing by 0.1% of the third child birthrate in comparison with last year (from 7.03% to 6.93%); reducing by 2.0% of the rate of malnourished children under five years old comprised with last year (from 9.0% to 8.8%). Since the beginning of the year, all hospitals have focused on improving the quality of health checkups and treatment, etc.

In addition, the health sector has paid special attention to carrying out various drastic measures for disease prevention. In the first half of the year, beside dengue fever patients, Hanoi recorded 103 cases of pertussis, 103 cases of typhus, 80 cases of foot-hand-mouth disease and 12 others of severe pneumonia due to virus. At present, there are no reports of cholera, typhoid, dangerous diarrhea, influenza A H5N1 and H7N9, etc. Basically, the health sector has well controlled the disease situation in the capital city; detected and handled outbreaks as soon as possible; cooperated with relevant sectors to ensure food safety and hygiene to avoid poisoning cases in the area. 

 


 
At the conference, Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien said that the situation of dengue fever has been more complicated in the city. By the July 26, 2017, Hanoi recorded over 7,000 cases of dengue fever, increasing 400 cases, 16 times higher than the same period last year. 

The leader of the Health Department also asked all agencies and units to focus on preventing and controlling cases of dengue fever to minimize deaths. Medical Centers are responsible for reviewing and treating dengue fever in high risk areas; strengthening environmental sanitation campaigns, including: killing mosquitoes and larva, cleaning water containers, etc.

In the second half of the year, the health sector will concentrate on drastically implementing preventive measure for diseases, especially dengue fever to minimize deaths due to dengue fever. On the occasion, three individuals received the Third-Class Labor Medal; one individual was presented the certificate of merit of the Prime Minister; four others received the title of Emulation Fighter of the Municipal People's Committee; and many outstanding units and individuals were rewarded at the conference.
