Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had a meeting with Ambassador of New Zealand to Vietnam Haike Manning in Hanoi on April 22.
During the reception, the two sides were pleased to see the good friendship relationship between Vietnam and New Zealand through the friendship cooperation visits of the two countries' prime minister in 2015.
Vietnam has been playing an important role in the ASEAN region and to the future of New Zealand, the ambassador shared.
At the meeting, Ambassador Haike Manning said New Zealand has strengths in areas of training of human resources and public management, as well as the leading advanced technology in cattle, pigs, dairy processing and ensuring of food safety.
Ambassador Haike Manning expressed his desires to promote cooperation with Hanoi in the fields of education, agriculture and trade, especially the ensuring of food hygiene and safety.
Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said that in the next five years, Hanoi's authorities will focus on promoting modern infrastructure investments, applying high-tech agricultural development applications, and embellishing local infrastructure in order to build the brighter, greener, cleaner, more beautiful and civilized city.
The Hanoi's Chairman suggested the ambassador to propose to the New Zealand's Government to support the capital in the fields of staff training, implementation of advanced management models, public services and application of information technology to meet the needs of international integration, and advise effective solution for urban embellishment, environmental protection and food safety.
Agreed with the proposal of the Hanoi's leader, Ambassador Haike Manning affirmed that in his tenure he will try his best to be a bridge in implementing the above objectives and contributing to cultivate the growing friendship between New Zealand and Vietnam.
